Week 16 of the 2013 Copa Sudamericana saw Lanus (Argentina) win 2-0 at home in the second leg of the final against Ponte Preta (Brazil). First half goals from Victor Ayala and Ismael Blanco won the match for Lanus. The first leg of the tie between Lanus and Ponte Preta finished 1-1.
The first half of the match saw Lanus have a number of chances to open the scoring. They had a number of attempts that were not on target, and a few that were on target. Lanus went 1-0 up on 25 minutes through Victor Ayala. In first half stoppage time Lanus went 2-0 up through Ismael Blanco. Ponte Preta in contrast did not register a shot on target in the first half.
The second half of the match was similar to first half, in that Lanus had a number of chances to score more goals. They had a number of attempts on target, and a few that were not on target. Ponte Preta’s only effort on goal was a Ferrugem effort in the 75th minute that was saved by Lanus goal keeper Marchesin.

The 2013 Copa Sudamericana is the first major South American competition that Lanus have won in their history. They are also the fifth team from Argentina to have won the competition. The other four Argentine winners of the competition were Arsenal, Boca Juniors, Independiente; and San Lorenzo.
